Home workouts – How to get in shape without leaving the house!

I have been in the gym since I was 16 years old. As an athlete, lifting weight was crucial to my athletic and speed development. I also worked out in front of football players, so my fear of the gym never existed.
I quickly realized during my first personal training job there was a great fear of entering the gym for females. I worked at 24 hour fitness. For about a week straight, this lady parked in the same spot but never got out of her car. I would look for her if I saw her on the floor but never saw her.
Finally, after a week of seeing her before I went into work, I decided to ask her if she was ok. To that she replied, ” I am just afraid to go inside, I am afraid of what people will think of me.” She was overweight. I told her I would walk in with her and show her the gym myself. She agreed and we walked in together. I showed her the whole gym, trying to make her feel as comfortable as I could. It worked because she joined the gym and started working out.
About a week later I got a job at a different facility, so I never got to follow her progress. I wish I would have gotten her information to keep in touch. I hope she is doing great today!
Which brings me to my point, this is my 10th year as a trainer. The fear of going to the gym, especially for women, is really high up there. I did a survey in my Free weight loss group and 73% would rather workout in the comfort of their home. I never thought that number was so high. But I get it I really do. Some “gym meathead idiots” who grunt and mirror stare can make the gym super uncomfortable for you
But the truth is with our technology these days you really don’t have to leave your house to get in shape, burn calories or build muscle. In comes daily burn.
