Exercise has long been prescribed as a way to burn off steam and relax. Exercise keeps the brain occupied, and keeps the stress hormone cortisol in check which can lower symptoms for anxiety and restlessness, according to The Exercise Cure, by sports medicine physician Dr. Jordan Metzl. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/000291499090032V

Sleep better at night
I am not my best without a good night sleep, I bet you are the same way. Exercises is the best way to improve your sleep. Virtually any form of exercise, from weight training to yoga, can act as a trigger point in the production of endorphins (the happy hormone) in your body, which, in turn, can improve mood states. http://www.rowancenterla.com/new-blog/2015/4/13/exercise-and-endorphins

Boost metabolism
This is my favorite topic when it comes to weight loss. When you do a hard workout, i am not talking walking or water aerobics. I am talking about a workout that you use some muscle fibers, you are fatigued and feel like you got a hell of a workout in. It elevate your metabolism there after. This is called EPOC or Excess Post Oxygen Consumption. http://shapeamerica.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/02640410600552064

Build lean body tissue or muscle tissue
Not all workouts build lean body tissue or muscles. You need to lift some weights or resistance train. I am not talking about lifting 5 lbs dumbbells. I am talking about putting that weight up till that last rep you think you may fail. Building muscle takes a scientific approach or an exercise prescription. I include a workout plan with my 21 day metabolic reboot. When you build muscle or LBT you increase your calorie burning through out the day. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00125-011-2361-8

Many types of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, lung disease—we’d be here all day if we listed all the illnesses that exercising lowers your risk for. Helps in conceiving
Is there a baby in your future? Better hit the weight floor. Makes you look younger
Thanks to that sweaty glow and leftover runner’s high, people who work out often look younger than their friends, and now research has found that people who exercise truly are younger, on a cellular level, than their same-aged peers. Telomeres, the cap on the ends of DNA, start out long at birth and get progressively shorter with age. Up until recently it was thought there wasn’t much we could do to change that, but a new study showed that endurance athletes have longer telomeres than their peers, while a second study found that moderate exercise can lengthen your telomeres by up to 10 percent. http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0052769

A meta-analysis of the effects of exercise on the brain found that fitness improves memory, boosts cognition, helps you learn faster, increases brain volume, and even makes you a better reader. In addition, recent studies have found that working out helps prevent the cognitive decline as we age and diseases like Alzheimer’s. http://www1.udel.edu/PT/PT%20Clinical%20Services/journalclub/noajc/08_09/Nov08/Physical%20Activity%20and%20Alzheimer’s%20disease.pdf

Helps in managing chronic pain
When you’re living with chronic pain, getting out of bed is hard enough, much less heading out to pump some iron or go for a run. Yet research shows that a moderate exercise program gives both short-term and long-term improvements for people who have chronic pain, even if the underlying condition remains. In short, exercise may not fix all your problems, but it will help you deal with them better. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/570268
