Products guaranteed to help release stress
For most of us, stress is a fact of life. Unfortunately, research reveals that it’s also a fact of fat. “Even if you usually eat well and exercise, chronic high stress can prevent you from losing weight—or even add pounds,” says Pamela Peeke, MD, author of Body for Life for Women.
Here’s what happens: Your body responds to all stress in exactly the same way. So every time you have a stressful day, your brain instructs your cells to release potent hormones. You get a burst of adrenaline, which taps stored energy so you can fight or flee. At the same time, you get a surge of cortisol, which tells your body to replenish that energy even though you haven’t used very many calories. This can make you hungry…very hungry. And your body keeps on pumping out that cortisol as long as the stress continues.
Thus the weight gain begins….Here are some awesome ways to relieve some stress in your life.
- Coloring book
Have you jumped on this trend yet? There is something super satisfying about coloring. Kids have had it right all along! This coloring book just makes me smile.
2. Herbal tea
I am a suck for a good herbal tea. This the BY FAR the best stress relief tea out there. I suffer from PMDD and this has made all the difference in the world. It immediately calms you down.
3. Free app!
This app helps you learn how to meditate. If you are like me and can’t sit still for 5 minutes, mediation is hard to come by. They also have a option to help you sleep! Available on google play and apple
4. Acupressure mat
This nutty thing while it may look like a torture device can help you relax instantly. Acupressure uses key healing points, which stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. If you just don’t have an acupressure therapist around this mat is a good option.
5. Natural herbs
I love valerian root. I would take it at my most stressful points. It has a calming effect on your body. I am not about the pharmaceutical drugs, so I look for options that are natural. I have even taken this before bed if i find my mind is racing.
6. Yoga workout
To some yoga can be stressfull because its hard! That is a good thing because it really challenges your body to focus on what you are doing and relieves the muscle tension we build up over time. I always walk away from a yoga session much more calm
7. Massager
If you find that you have a lot of stress related headaches, you may have some upper trap and neck muscle tension. This is a great product that uses shiatsu massage to help release that stress tension in your neck. This is where i carry my stress. If i have a headache that comes on the neck shoulder area is what I focus on first. You can use this massager all over your body as well.
8. Scalp Massage
Have you ever used one of these? It is seriously the best feeling. It always give me goosbumps! Right now they are like 1.78. Well worth it!
9. Bath Bomb
I love a good bath at the end of the day. These Bath bombs always smell amazing. If you want another way to release stress, look up people using bath bombs on the internet and have a good laugh 🙂
I am a total believer that laughter is the BEST medicine. I have dealt with my own anxiety and depression. This works every time. On days i was really stressed, i would watch movie after movie, or the office. Walk away from a funny movie, stressed out, it doesn’t happen
11. Mediate
I have taken up meditation recently and I am loving the way my mind is adapting to the stillness. I am the type of person who is thinking of a million different things at once while also having anxiety. Meditation has helped me so much. Here are some videos I use on youtube.
I have a Free Facebook weight loss group where I also share tips on de-stressing. The more you stress the more cortisol you release in your body that adds to weight gain. My 10 day mind and body detox also has a specific focus on helping you lose weight and finding inner peace
