They say we are an average of the 5 people closest to us. Chances are they are going to be the same people providing you with weight loss support. When you are going on a weight loss journey, you need to have a good support system. You are going to want to give in and give up, make sure that your support system will be there to encourage you.
Researchers are still wrestling with how to help people keep weight off after group treatment ends. Enlisting family and friends in the effort may help, research suggests.
According to one study, participants who enrolled in a weight-loss program with friends did a better job of keeping their weight off. In addition to teaming up with friends, these enrollees were given social support in addition to standard treatment.
Two-thirds of those who enrolled with friends had kept their weight off six months after the meetings ended. In contrast, only a quarter of those who attended on their own had achieved that same success.
I once had a client who was having a hard time losing weight. We spoke for a long time trying to figure out what was going on. She told me her husband was always tempting her to go get sweets at the end of the day. With that type of temptation all the time, how do you expect to succeed?
Going thru your transition into a healthy lifestyle there are going to be people along that way that don’t want you to succeed. Misery loves company right? You can probably already guess who these people are in your life but just in case here are some clues:
The person who always tempts you will food you shouldn’t be eating.
the person who puts you down for eating healthy, for example, “oh girl you are silly for eating that instead of this pizza.”
the “you are getting too skinny” person
if the person laughs at you for making healthy choices
Why do people do this? Well people don’t want you to be successful in your weight loss. They think what if she is skinny and I am not. So they keep giving you a hard time in hopes you will fail just to make themselves feel better. Eliminate these people from your life immediately, they are good for no one. Most likely it has nothing to do with your goals but how they feel about their own lives.
The best advice I can give you is to keep true to your goals, they are no ones but your own. Ignore the haters and keep smiling until you hit your goals. This is your time. This is about you feeling better and losing weight.
